Yes — and it's one of the real highlights of staying here. Loch Insch benefits from very dark skies with minimal light pollution, making it an excellent spot for Aurora Borealis viewing. The Northern Lights are typically visible from late August through to May on clear nights. There's no guarantee of a sighting, but guests are regularly treated to displays above the loch.

No advance booking is required for day tickets — just turn up and pay on arrival. We do recommend calling ahead on busy weekends to check availability.

We offer an 8 Hour Permit (£30), a 4 Hour Permit (£22), and a Bait Pond permit for under 18s (£10). Over 65s can fish on Wednesdays and Fridays for £11 for 4 hours. All fishing is catch and release.

Absolutely — dogs are welcome throughout the fishery, touring park and inside The Tickled Trout café. Please keep them on leads at all times.

Pitches can be booked online via Airestop at airestop.co.uk/sites/Y14045. We have 4 hardstanding pitches with electric hook-up available at £20 per night, or £15 without EHU.

Yes — the café is open to everyone. Whether you're fishing, staying on the park, or just passing through Aberdeenshire, you're welcome to stop in for a bacon roll, a coffee and a view of the Bennachie hills.

Barbless or de-barbed hooks only. Single flies only — boobies are not permitted. Maintain a respectful distance between anglers. Catch returns must be completed after your session. Full rules are available as a PDF on our fishing page.

Yes, there is free parking on site for anglers, café visitors and touring guests.

Quiet hours are between 9pm and 7am. Fires are not permitted. BBQs are welcome in raised stands only.
